Selected Acupoints

Selected Acupoints List is the list next to the Acupoint List, the list farthest right out of all three lists. The list panel is labeled "Selected Acupoints." This Selected Acupoints List contains the acupoints that are used during the treatment, as the part of Treatment Protocol.

.

In order to select the acupoints that will be used in the treatment easily, IAA provides four convenient ways to select acupoints:

1. Clicking an acupoint's name in the acupoint list: When clicking on one of acupoints listed in the Acupoints List, the selected acupoint will be automatically added to the Selected Acupoints List. You can add single acupoint by clicking the point one by one, or you can add all acupoints in the Acupoint List by right-clicking and checking "Select All" in the popup menu.

2. Searching the database: The search can be done with the Search Text Box located in the lower left part of the operation window, or by using the Point Finder form that can be activated in the popup menu when right-clicking the chart image. (See details in the section Search Database).

3. Directly clicking on the acupoint (the color ball) in the chart will also add the acupoint to the Selected Acupoint list. First make sure the "Click to Add" option is checked in the right-click menu.

4. Search with name(s) of symptoms and diseases. This can be done by clicking the Symptoms button located at the upper left corner of the operation window.

When an acupoint is selected and added to the Selected Acupoints List, that point will become Active. The point currently selected is called the Active Point. As soon as the point is selected, the Description Panel (lower left text box) will display the information about the selected Acupoint. The description includes Standard alphanumeric name (e.g., GV01: CHANG QIANG *), Chinese Pinyin, English Name, Location, Indications and Healing Effects. If the option 'Description' is checked in the right-click menu, you will also see the description information in a message form on the top of the chart when you mouseover the active point's label text box.

As soon as an acupoint is added to the Selected Acupoints List or selected from the Selected Acupoint List, the Acu-Chart Image will automatically move to and close in on that point on the image. If the Arrow Indicator (colored arrow) is on, the Indicator will point to the selected acupoint on the image. If Indicator does not show, you can turn it on in the right-click menu by checking the 'Arrow Indicator' check box. This option is off by default after installation. You can turn it on or off in the settings window. If 'Label' is selected in the popup menu, you will also see a text box showing the Standardized name of the active point like: GV11: Shen Dao.

When designing Treatment Protocol, you can select as many Acupoints as you want in the way described above. You may choose a point from other meridians by changing Active Meridian in the Meridian List.

* Please note that IAA abbreviates and standardizes the alpha-numeric name of all acupoints with 4 characters. The first two characters are the abbreviations of the meridian name, and the last two digits of the number; for 1 through 9, it will appear as 01, 02, ..., 09. Following the alpha-numeric name, there is a colon, ':' followed by the Chinese pinyin name, so the complete acupuncture name looks like: GV01: Chang Qiang.
